What we do

Dispatch and offline work orders

LinkIT builds field-service software connecting dispatch, offline technician work orders, photos, signatures and draft invoices. The day’s jobs sync to the device, work saves locally and changes sync when signal returns.

  1. 01

    Assign from the office

Dispatch the job with the details the technician needs.

  2. 02

    Complete work in the field

Keep photos, checklists and signatures with the work order offline.

  3. 03

    Start billing from the job

Sync completed work and prepare the draft invoice.

The existing build does not include GPS fleet tracking, accounting sync or on-site card/tap payments. Those integrations require separate scoping.

See the field service case study

LinkIT builds field service software for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing contractors. Dispatch, offline work orders, photos, signatures, and a draft invoice connect the office with the completed job.

What we build

The core workflow includes:

  • A dispatch board the office assigns jobs from, instead of a whiteboard and phone calls.
  • An offline technician app. The day's jobs sync to the device, and work saves locally until signal comes back.
  • Digital work orders with photos, checklists and signatures.
  • A draft invoice from the completed job, so billing starts from the finished work order instead of a retyped form.
  • Parts and van stock on the same inventory as the office, using the same approach as our wholesale distribution systems.

If what you need is a counter register, start with POS systems. If the job is bigger than this loop, see custom software development.

Trades we build for

HVAC, electrical and plumbing, plus other service trades that work the same way: garage doors, appliance repair and locksmiths.

We built a field service platform for a client under NDA: a dispatch board, an offline React Native app for techs, digital work orders with photos and signatures, SMS to techs, and draft invoices from completed jobs. Read the field service write-up.

What it doesn't include

The current build does not include on-site card or tap-to-pay, online booking, financing, memberships, flat-rate price books, accounting sync, GPS fleet tracking, or call answering. Payment at the job would require a separately scoped provider integration and approval.

Where we work

We build from Chicago, Illinois, for shops across Chicagoland, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

Before we build

Good questions.
Clear answers.

A little more about the work, the scope, and what to expect.

What POS does an HVAC or electrical contractor need?

Usually not a counter register. The sale happens at the job, where a finished work order becomes an invoice. LinkIT builds that whole loop: dispatch, offline work orders and a draft invoice from the completed job.

Why build custom field service software instead of a subscription?

It makes sense when per-technician pricing, forced workflows or missing pieces like your own forms, a parts counter or commercial billing cost more than a build. If an off-the-shelf tool fits, use it. We'll tell you if it does.

Does it work without cell signal?

Yes. The day's jobs sync to the device, and everything a tech does is saved locally and syncs when signal comes back.

Can techs take payment on site?

On-site payments are not included in the current build. A payment-provider integration would need a separate scope and provider approval. LinkIT is not a payment processor.

Do you work with contractors outside Chicago?

We build from Chicago, Illinois and work with shops across Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
