A B2B SaaS team saw users sign up and leave before completing setup. LinkIT rebuilt the first-run flow and added tracking to show where users stopped.
The problem
New users reached an empty dashboard without the data or setup needed to use the product. The team could see total drop-off but lacked a view of each onboarding step.
The work focused on setup, step-level analytics and placing the upgrade prompt after a useful first action.
What we built
- Guided setup with data import or sample data for the first session.
- Milestone tracking showing completion and drop-off at each step.
- Progress cues pointing users toward their next action.
The first-run flow takes users through setup to a populated dashboard or first report, rather than relying on a product tour alone.
How we approached it
Tracking was added before the redesign so the team could identify the steps that needed attention. The flow was then revised one step at a time, with the same events used to evaluate changes.
Delivered system
The product has a guided first run and a funnel the team can continue to use when evaluating onboarding changes.
